Welcome to LKBK (pronounced “Lookbook”)! This Privacy Policy explains how I, Benson Chou, collect, use, and protect your information when you use the LKBK mobile application.

About LKBK

LKBK is a social platform for fashion enthusiasts to share outfit photos, discover style inspiration, and connect with others who love fashion. The app is independently developed and operated by me as an individual developer, not a company.

Information We Collect

Account Information (Required for Registered Users)

When you create an account, I collect:

  • Email address – Used for authentication and account recovery
  • Username – Your public identifier on the platform (chosen by you)
  • Display name – Your public name shown on your profile
  • Password – Stored in hashed form if you sign up with email (never stored in plain text)

Profile Information (Optional)

You can choose to add:

  • Profile photo/avatar – To personalize your profile
  • Bio text – To tell others about yourself
  • Profile link – Link to your website or social media
  • Location – City or region information (you can optionally add a map pin to show where you’re based)

Content You Create

When you use LKBK, I store:

  • Outfit photos – Images you upload to share your style
  • Captions – Descriptions of your outfits
  • Article details – Information about clothing items including type, brand, model, color, colorway, and size
  • Article links – Purchase or affiliate links (Pro feature only)
  • Comments – Your comments on other users’ posts
  • Collections – Your organized folders of saved outfits

Interaction Data

I collect information about how you interact with content:

  • Outfits you’ve liked
  • Outfits you’ve saved
  • Users you follow and who follow you
  • Content reports you submit
  • Referral codes you generate and share
  • Referrals you make (when someone signs up using your code)

Automatically Collected Information

I collect minimal technical information:

  • Device information – Device model and iOS version (only collected when you submit feedback via email)
  • App version – Only for support and troubleshooting purposes

Information We Do NOT Collect

I want to be clear about what I don’t collect:

  • ❌ Precise GPS location (only city-level if you manually add it)
  • ❌ Your contacts
  • ❌ Health data
  • ❌ Financial information (all payments handled by Apple)
  • ❌ Browsing history
  • ❌ Advertising identifiers (IDFA)
  • ❌ Cross-app or cross-website tracking data

LKBK does not track you across other apps or websites.

How We Use Your Information

I use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain the LKBK service
  • Create and manage your account
  • Display your profile and content to other users
  • Enable social features (likes, comments, follows, saves)
  • Process and track referrals through our referral program
  • Provide Pro subscription features
  • Respond to your support requests
  • Detect and prevent spam, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service
  • Improve the app based on how it’s used
  • Send important updates about the service (rare and only when necessary)

Third-Party Services

LKBK uses the following third-party services:

Firebase (Google Cloud Platform)

Firebase provides essential infrastructure for LKBK:

  • Authentication – Secure email/password sign-in
  • Firestore Database – Stores user profiles, outfits, and interactions
  • Cloud Storage – Stores outfit images and profile photos
  • App Check – Security and fraud prevention

An alternative authentication method. Apple’s privacy policy applies.

Apple StoreKit

Handles all Pro subscription purchases. I never see your payment information—Apple processes all payments securely.

Data Storage and Security

  • Your data is stored on Firebase servers, which use Google Cloud infrastructure
  • Data is transmitted using industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
  • Images are stored in secure cloud storage with access controls
  • I implement reasonable security measures, but no system is 100% secure

Data Sharing

I do not sell your data. Period.

I only share your information in these limited circumstances:

  • Public content – Your profile, photos, captions, and comments are visible to other LKBK users as part of the social platform
  • Service providers – Firebase/Google Cloud services that help operate the app (under strict confidentiality agreements)
  • Legal requirements – If required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety
  • With your consent – If you explicitly agree to share information in other ways

Content Moderation

To keep LKBK safe and relevant:

  • Users can report posts for inappropriate content, spam, harassment, irrelevant links, or other violations
  • Posts with 3+ reports within a short time period may be temporarily hidden pending review
  • Users with excessive reports over time may be restricted
  • You can hide or block other users from your feed at any time

Your Privacy Rights

General Rights (All Users)

You have the right to:

  • Access – View the data I have about you
  • Edit – Update your profile information at any time through the app
  • Delete – Remove your posts or delete your entire account
  • Export – Request a copy of your data (contact feedback@thelkbk.com)
  • Object – Opt out of certain data uses (though this may limit app functionality)

California Residents (CCPA)

If you’re a California resident, you have additional rights:

  • Right to know what personal information is collected
  • Right to know if personal information is sold or disclosed (I don’t sell data)
  • Right to delete personal information
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights

European Users (GDPR)

If you’re in the EU/EEA/UK:

  • Legal basis for processing – Performance of contract (providing the service), legitimate interests (improving the app), and consent (for optional features)
  • Data transfers – Your data may be stored on servers outside your country (Google Cloud infrastructure)
  • Additional rights – Right to portability, right to restrict processing, right to object
  • Supervisory authority – You can lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

Data Retention

  • Active accounts – Data is retained as long as your account is active
  • Deleted accounts – Most data is deleted within 30 days; some data may be retained longer for legal/security purposes
  • Deleted posts – Removed from public view immediately; permanently deleted from backups within 90 days
  • Cached content – Other users may have saved/cached your public posts before deletion

Children’s Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

LKBK is intended for users 13 years of age or older.

I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you’re a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has created an account, please contact me at feedback@thelkbk.com and I will delete the account promptly.

Subscriptions and Payments

  • LKBK offers a free tier and a paid “Pro” subscription
  • Pro features include: advanced filters, collections, full calendar history, full closet access, and the ability to add article links
  • All subscriptions are handled through Apple’s App Store
  • I never see your payment information—Apple processes everything
  • Subscription pricing is approximately the cost of one coffee per month
  • You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID settings

International Users

LKBK is available worldwide through the Apple App Store. By using the app:

  • You consent to your data being transferred to and stored on servers in the United States and other countries
  • These countries may have different data protection laws than your own
  • I take reasonable steps to protect your data regardless of location

Changes to This Privacy Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in:

  • The app’s features or functionality
  • Legal requirements
  • Best practices for privacy protection

When I make significant changes:

  • I’ll update the “Last Updated” date at the top
  • I’ll notify you through the app or via email (for material changes)
  • Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy

No Advertising

LKBK does not display advertisements and does not use your data for advertising purposes.
