Terms of Service for LKBK

Welcome to LKBK! These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Benson Chou (that’s me—the individual developer of LKBK). By using the LKBK mobile application, you agree to these Terms.

 

Please read them carefully. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.

1. Accepting These Terms

By creating an account or using LKBK, you agree to:

 

  • These Terms of Service
  • The LKBK Privacy Policy
  • Apple’s App Store Terms of Service

 

You must be at least 13 years old to use LKBK. If you’re under 18, you confirm you have permission from a parent or guardian.

2. What LKBK Is

LKBK (pronounced “Lookbook”) is a social platform where users:

 

  • Share outfit photos and fashion inspiration
  • Discover and save outfits from other users
  • Connect with a community of fashion enthusiasts
  • Track their personal style over time

 

LKBK is independently developed and operated by me as an individual, not a company.

3. Your Account

Creating an Account

To use LKBK’s features, you need to create an account using:

 

  • Email and password, or
  • Apple Sign-In, or
  • Google Sign-In

 

You agree to:

 

  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Keep your password secure and confidential
  • Notify me immediately if your account is compromised
  • Be responsible for all activity under your account

Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. I’m not liable for any loss or damage from your failure to keep your account secure.

One Person, One Account

Each account should represent one real person. Don’t create multiple accounts or share accounts with others.

4. Acceptable Use

You May:

✓ Share your outfit photos and fashion content
✓ Like, comment on, and save others’ posts
✓ Follow other users and build your network
✓ Organize your saved outfits into collections
✓ Use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes

You May NOT:

✗ Post content that violates others’ rights (copyright, trademark, privacy)
✗ Share inappropriate, offensive, or harmful content
✗ Harass, bully, or threaten other users
✗ Post spam, scams, or misleading content
✗ Use the app for illegal activities
✗ Impersonate others or create fake accounts
✗ Attempt to hack, scrape, or reverse engineer the app
✗ Circumvent security measures or access restrictions
✗ Upload malware, viruses, or malicious code
✗ Sell or transfer your account
✗ Use automated tools (bots) to interact with the app

5. Content Guidelines

Prohibited Content

Do not post content that contains:

 

  • Nudity or sexual content (this is a fashion app, keep it appropriate)
  • Hate speech, discrimination, or harassment
  • Violence or graphic imagery
  • Spam or irrelevant promotional content
  • Misleading information or scams
  • Content that violates any laws
  • Other users’ private information without consent
  • Copyrighted material you don’t have rights to use

Fashion-Focused Platform

LKBK is specifically for outfit and fashion content. Posts should be:

 

  • Relevant to fashion, style, or clothing
  • Appropriate for a general audience (ages 13+)
  • Your own original photos or photos you have permission to share

Affiliate Links (Pro Feature)

If you’re a Pro subscriber and include affiliate or purchase links:

 

  • You must comply with FTC guidelines and disclosure requirements
  • Links must be relevant to the clothing items shown
  • You’re responsible for any business/tax obligations
  • Don’t use misleading or deceptive marketing practices

6. Your Content and Rights

Ownership

You retain ownership of the content you post (photos, captions, comments). However, by posting content to LKBK, you grant me:

 

A worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:

 

  • Display your content within the LKBK app
  • Store your content on Firebase/cloud servers
  • Allow other LKBK users to view, save, and interact with your public content
  • Use your content to promote LKBK (with attribution) in marketing materials, app screenshots, or social media—unless you opt out by contacting me

 

This license ends when you delete your content or account, except for:

 

  • Content other users have saved (which remains visible to them)
  • Content needed for legal, safety, or operational purposes
  • Cached or backup copies (deleted within 90 days)

 

Deleting content removes it from public feeds, but saved or cached versions may persist for a limited time.

Representations

By posting content, you represent that:

 

  • You own it or have the right to share it
  • It doesn’t violate anyone else’s rights
  • It complies with these Terms and all applicable laws

User-Generated Content

I don’t review all content before it’s posted. Content posted by users represents their views, not mine. I’m not responsible for user-generated content, but I reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms.

7. Content Moderation and Enforcement

Reporting

Users can report content for:

 

  • Inappropriate or offensive material
  • Spam or irrelevant content
  • Harassment or bullying
  • Copyright violations
  • Other violations of these Terms

 

Abuse of the reporting system, including coordinated or malicious reporting, may itself result in account restrictions.

Automated Actions

  • Posts with 3+ reports within a short time period may be temporarily hidden pending review
  • Users with excessive reports over time may be restricted

My Rights

I reserve the right to:

 

  • Remove or hide content that violates these Terms
  • Suspend or terminate accounts for violations
  • Make these decisions at my sole discretion
  • Take action with or without notice

Appeals

If your content is removed or your account is suspended, you may contact feedback@thelkbk.com to appeal. I’ll review appeals on a case-by-case basis.

8. Pro Subscription

What Is Pro?

LKBK offers an optional paid “Pro” subscription that unlocks:

 

  • Advanced filters
  • Collections (unlimited organization)
  • Full calendar history
  • Full closet access and statistics
  • Ability to add article purchase/affiliate links
  • Future Pro-exclusive features

Pricing and Billing

  • Pro costs approximately the price of one coffee per month
  • Exact pricing is shown in the app and may vary by region
  • Subscriptions are billed through Apple’s App Store
  • You can choose monthly or annual billing (if available)
  • Subscriptions auto-renew unless you cancel

Payments

All payments are processed by Apple. I never see or store your payment information. Apple’s payment terms apply.

Cancellation and Refunds

  • You can cancel anytime through your Apple ID subscription settings
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period
  • No partial refunds for unused time
  • Refund requests must be made through Apple, not through me
  • Termination for violations does not entitle you to a refund, to the extent permitted by Apple’s policies

Changes to Pro

I may change Pro features or pricing with reasonable notice (at least 30 days for existing subscribers). Continued use after changes means you accept them.

9. Intellectual Property

My Rights

LKBK, including its design, code, features, logo, and branding, is owned by me (Benson Chou) and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

 

You may not:

 

  • Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the app
  • Use LKBK’s name, logo, or branding without permission
  • Reverse engineer or decompile the app
  • Remove any copyright or proprietary notices

Trademarks

“LKBK” and the LKBK logo are my trademarks. Don’t use them without written permission.

Copyright Complaints (DMCA)

If you believe content on LKBK infringes your copyright:

 

  1. Email feedback@thelkbk.com with:
    • Your contact information
    • Description of the copyrighted work
    • URL or description of the infringing content
    • Statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized
    • Statement that the information is accurate and you’re authorized to act
    • Your physical or electronic signature

 

I’ll investigate and take appropriate action, which may include removing the content.

 

False claims may have legal consequences.

10. Blocking and Hiding Users

You can:

 

  • Block users – They can’t see your profile or interact with your content
  • Hide users – Their content won’t appear in your feed

 

These are user-level controls. Blocked users aren’t notified, but may notice they can’t see your content.

11. Referral Program

LKBK offers a referral program that allows you to invite friends to join the platform.

How It Works

  • You can generate a unique referral code to share with others
  • When someone signs up using your referral code, both you and the new user may receive benefits (such as extended Pro trial periods, special features, or other incentives)
  • Referral rewards are determined by me and may change over time

Referral Program Rules

You agree to:

 

  • Use referrals honestly – Only share with people who might genuinely be interested in LKBK
  • No spam – Don’t send unsolicited messages or post referral codes in inappropriate places
  • No gaming the system – Don’t create fake accounts, use bots, or manipulate the referral system
  • No misrepresentation – Don’t make false claims about LKBK or referral benefits

Violations and Termination

I reserve the right to:

 

  • Revoke referral rewards if obtained through fraudulent or abusive means
  • Suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the referral program
  • Modify or discontinue the referral program at any time
  • Determine what constitutes abuse at my sole discretion

No Guarantee of Rewards

Referral rewards are provided at my discretion and are subject to availability. I make no guarantee that:

 

  • Referral rewards will always be available
  • Specific rewards will be offered
  • The program will continue indefinitely

12. Privacy and Data

Your use of LKBK is also governed by the Privacy Policy, which explains how I collect, use, and protect your data.

 

Key points:

 

  • I don’t sell your data
  • I don’t show ads
  • Your public content is visible to other LKBK users
  • You can delete your account and data anytime

13. Disclaimers and Limitations

“As Is” Service

LKBK is provided “as is” and “as available” without any warranties, express or implied, including:

 

  • Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
  • Warranties that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
  • Warranties regarding the accuracy or reliability of content

No Guarantees

I don’t guarantee that:

 

  • The app will always be available or work perfectly
  • Your content will be preserved indefinitely
  • Other users’ content is accurate or appropriate
  • The app will meet your specific needs

Third-Party Content

Links to third-party websites or services (like article purchase links) are provided for convenience. I’m not responsible for third-party content, products, or services.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

 

I (Benson Chou) am not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including:

 

  • Lost profits or data
  • Loss of goodwill or opportunity
  • Service interruptions
  • Any other intangible losses

 

My total liability is limited to the amount you paid me in the 12 months before the claim (or $100 if you haven’t paid anything).

 

Some jurisdictions don’t allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you.

User Disputes

I’m not responsible for disputes between users. You release me from any claims related to disputes with other LKBK users.

14. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold me harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

 

  • Your use of LKBK
  • Content you post
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of others’ rights

15. Termination

Your Right to Leave

You can stop using LKBK or delete your account anytime.

My Right to Terminate

I may suspend or terminate your access to LKBK at any time, with or without cause or notice, including for:

 

  • Violating these Terms
  • Engaging in harmful or illegal activity
  • Prolonged inactivity
  • Technical or security reasons
  • Any reason at my discretion

Effect of Termination

When your account is terminated:

 

  • Your access to LKBK ends immediately
  • Your content may be deleted (subject to retention policies in the Privacy Policy)
  • These Terms survive termination where relevant (e.g., indemnification, disclaimers)

16. Changes to These Terms

I may update these Terms from time to time to reflect:

 

  • New features or changes to the app
  • Legal or regulatory requirements
  • Improvements to clarity or fairness

Notice of Changes

For material changes, I’ll:

 

  • Update the “Last Updated” date
  • Notify you through the app or via email
  • Give you time to review before the changes take effect (typically 30 days)

Your Options

If you don’t agree to the updated Terms:

 

  • Stop using LKBK before the changes take effect
  • Delete your account

 

Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the new Terms.

17. Dispute Resolution

Informal Resolution

If you have a dispute with me, please first contact feedback@thelkbk.com and give me a chance to resolve it informally.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Arbitration Agreement (US Users)

For users in the United States:

 

Any dispute that can’t be resolved informally will be resolved through binding arbitration, not in court, except you may bring claims in small claims court if they qualify.

 

Arbitration rules:

 

  • Conducted by the American Arbitration Association (AAA)
  • AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules apply
  • Arbitration takes place in California or another mutually agreed location
  • Each party pays their own attorney fees unless the arbitrator decides otherwise

 

What you’re giving up:

 

  • Your right to a jury trial
  • Your right to participate in class actions or class arbitrations

 

You can opt out of arbitration: Send written notice to feedback@thelkbk.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms.

International Users

If you’re outside the United States, disputes will be resolved under the laws of your jurisdiction, subject to applicable local consumer protection laws.

18. General Legal Terms

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and me regarding LKBK.

Severability

If any part of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

No Waiver

My failure to enforce any part of these Terms doesn’t waive my right to enforce it later.

No Fiduciary Duty

Nothing in LKBK creates a fiduciary, partnership, or employment relationship between users and me.

Assignment

You can’t transfer these Terms or your account to anyone else. I may assign these Terms to another party if needed (e.g., if I sell LKBK).

Force Majeure

I’m not liable for delays or failures due to events beyond my reasonable control (natural disasters, wars, strikes, internet outages, etc.).

Independent Developer

Remember, LKBK is built and operated by me as an individual developer, not a large company. I’m doing my best to provide a great service, but I have limited resources.

19. Apple App Store Terms

Because LKBK is distributed through the Apple App Store:

 

  • These Terms are between you and me, not Apple
  • Apple has no obligation to provide support (contact me for help)
  • Apple isn’t responsible for the app or content
  • If these Terms conflict with Apple’s terms, Apple’s terms control
  • You represent that you’re not in a country subject to US embargo or on a US prohibited parties list

21. Acknowledgment

By using LKBK, you acknowledge that:

 

  • You’ve read and understood these Terms
  • You agree to be bound by them
  • You’re at least 13 years old (or have parental permission if under 18)
  • You’ll use LKBK responsibly and respectfully

 

Summary in Plain English:

 

  • Be kind and respectful to other users
  • Only post fashion/outfit content that’s appropriate and that you have rights to
  • Don’t spam, harass, or do illegal things
  • Your content stays yours, but you give me permission to display it in the app
  • I can remove content or ban users who break the rules
  • Pro subscription is optional and gives you extra features
  • The app is provided “as is”—I’m not responsible if something goes wrong
  • These rules can change, but I’ll let you know
  • I’m just one person building this app—please be patient and kind!
